VIA Technologies to open regional offices in 6 Indian cities
Bangalore, Feb 8 (UNI) Taiwan-based VIA Technologies Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, proposes to open its regional office in six cities in India in an attempt to boost growth of the 'Thin Client' market and introduce new line of energy-efficient VIA PC-1 mainboards.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, Company Vice-President (Corporate Marketing) Richard Brown said the proposed regional offices would come up in Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, besides the one opened here yesterday. It was in an attempt to expand the company's presence in India and other countries within the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
''India is the fastest growing economy after China and with its world class software industry, it is emerging as a leading power in the global IT industry,'' he added.
Company Director (Channel Sales, India and SAARC) Sanjay Peer said Thin Clients represent an exciting opportunity for VIA in India and ''we expect the market to reach 1.25 million units by the end of 2010. Besides Thin Clients, the new office would also focus on increasing penetration of the PC space through the introduction of a new line of VIA PC-1 mainboards that would be made available across India through local distribution partners, backed up by a national service network.''
