Vehicle movement on Bangalore-Mysore disturbed for fourth day
Mysore, Feb 8 (UNI) Vehicle movement on Mysore-Bangalore State Highway was disturbed for the fourth day following continued demonstration by farmers at various points in Cauvery basin districts today in protest against Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) final award issued on February Five.
At Boddanur village in Mandya District, farmers including, women folk, started cooking food on the Highway and did not allow movement of vehicle.
Earlier the State Road Transport Corporation, which started service later withdrew following the protests. Some Kannada organisation have also joined the agitation.
Meanwhile the Cauvery Hitarakshana Horata Samithi, which is spear heading the agitation has decided to begin relay hunger strike from tomorrow.
School and college students boycotted their class in Mandya, took out procession and forced closure of both State and Central government offices.
In Mysore also students boycotted their class and formed human chain at K R circle and staged demonstration.
In the Chamarajanagara district, members of various Kannada organisations took out funeral procession of CWDT effigy.
No untoward incident reported from any part of Cauvery basin districts so far.
Police continued to maintain vigil in Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS), Kabini and Harangi dams.
