Satyam expands in China

Hyderabad, Feb 8: IT major Satyam Computer Services Limited will open a Global Delivery Campus (GDC) with 2,500 seats at Nanjing in China, which will be its largest development facility outside India.

The new campus, which would have a development and training and convention center would be operational within next 12 months, a company release here said today.

The state-of-the-art facility located at the Nanjing Software Park would have a broadband data communication system and other conveniences such as a restaurant, shopping mall, recreation and entertainment centres and residential apartments.

The ground breaking ceremony for the campus was held today at Nanjing Software Park and the agreement was signed between Satyam CEO Rama Raju and Nanjing Hitech Zone Standing Director Shao Qiang, the release said.

Satyam, one of the earliest entrants in the Chinese market back in 2002, had already established development centres in Shanghai, Beijing, Dalian and Guangzhou.

The centres in China, with 400 employees, caters to Asia Pacific customers and act as a derisking option to North American and European client base, the release added.
