Rupee declines slightly against US dollar in morning trade

Mumbai, Feb 8: The Indian Rupee drifted marginally lower against the US Dollar in an absolutely quiet trading at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market this morning.

The Indian unit opened at 44.1350/1400 per U S Dollar from its previous finish of 44.1200/1250, dealers said.

Delares said that the Central Bank seems to have entered into the market and made purchases at 44.13 level.

There were repors of payments in far farwards as against ysterday's receiving in the near forwards, dealers said.

Call money rates hovered around 7.00-7.50 per cent nearly steady from the previous finish.
