RTI Act ends hidden agenda of govt departments: Valsaraj
Puducherry, Feb 8 (UNI) Puducherry Health and Labour minister E Valsaraj today said the introduction of Right to Information (RTI) Act has brought to an end the ''hidden agenda' of every government departments.
Inaugurating a workshop on RTI Act, organised by the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) here, the minister said a government with a transparent governance agenda and concern for the welfare of the people could only be termed as a good government.
Any official refusing to divulge information under the RTI Act was punishable, and a penalty ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 25,000 could be slapped on him, Mr Valsaraj, who released the employees guide at the function, noted out.
