Prohibitory orders imposed in MP towns

Dewas(MP), Feb 8 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC were imposed in Hatpipalya and adjoining areas of Dewas district today due to communal tension following an attempt to molest a minior girl yesterday.

Prohibitory orders were also enforced in Bagli, Chapda, Karnavad and Nevri areas as a precautionary measure, Collector Umakant Umrao said.

Immediately after the arrest of the rapist, a group of people gheraoed the Hatpipalya police station demanding that the accused be handed over to their custody. Attempts were also made to close down the market and a vehicle was set on fire.

Police registered 11 cases of stoning, arson, loot, assault and threat to life and arrested 17 people so far, Superintendent of Police I P Kulshreshta said.
