Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam's Platinum Jubilee Feb 17

Kottayam, Feb 8 (UNI) The platinum jubilee celebrations of the Mar Thoma Yuvajana Sakhyam (youth wing of the Mar Thoma Church) will be inaugurated on February 17.

Vice President, Rev Thomas George and Yuvajana Sakhyam General Secretary, Rev Jose C Joseph Mathew, told newspersons here today Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom Mar Thoma Metropolitan would inaugurate the celebrations by declaring the year as 'Mission Year' at a function to be held at Famed Maramon Convention Pandal.

Sakhyam President, Rev Issac Mar Philexinos Episcopa, would preside over the function.

WCC General Secretary Samuel Kobia would inaugurate the jubilee programmes with Dr Joseph Mar Irenaeus Suffragan Metropolitan of the church releasing the jubilee logo.

The Yuvajana Sakhyam was instituted in 1933 with 49 branches.

Now, the Sakhyam had more than 1,000 branches in all continents.

The 112th Maramon Convention, the internationally famed largest annual Christian gathering will be held on the sand bed of sacred river Pumpa at Maramon from February 11 to 18.
