Maharashtra demands early resumption of Dabhol power project
New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today urged the Centre to immediately take steps for early resumption of the Dabhol power project in the state in the wake of a worsening power situation.
Mr Deshmukh made this suggestion during a meeting with the Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde here.
The meeting was attended by the state Power Minister Dilip Walse Patil.
Later talking to newsmen, Mr Patil said presently Maharashtra is passing through a power shortage to the extent of nearly 5,500 Mega Watts (MW).
As a result, it has to resort to heavy load shedding up to 8-9 hours per day, extending to the urban as well as the rural areas, he added.
