Lucknow, Feb 8 (UNI) Nidhi Shukla, the sister of slain poet Madhumita Shukla, who has been fighting a legal battle against former UP minister Amarmani Tripathi, today said she had expected the Supreme Court to transfer the case against the controversial MLA to a Delhi court.

Transferring the case from UP to Uttarakhand would not make much of a difference, she noted.

''He can manipulate things in Dehra Dun too...had the case been shifted to Delhi, Amarmani would have been lodged in Tihar jail from where it is difficult to pull strings,'' she told UNI over telephone from Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Nidhi claimed the witnesses could turn hostile as practically there was no difference between UP and Uttarakhand.

In a major set back to Amarmani, an accused in the Madhumita Shukla murder case, the apex court today transferred the trial of the case from Lucknow sessions court to a competent court of equal jurisdiction at Dehra Dun, Uttarakhand.

The transfer in the case was ordered by the court, while allowing an application by Nidhi seeking transfer of the case outside UP for fair and speedy trial.

The transfer of the case had been sought on grounds that Amarmani, who was minister in the Mulayam Singh Yadav government, had political clout in UP and could influence the court's decision.

The SC also directed the Dehra Dun court to conduct the trial on day-to-day basis, so that the case could be concluded maximum within six months.
