Italian designer shares views with Indian suit craftsmen for Vimal

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) To expose Indian suit craftsmen to the challenges and complexities of the global formal fashion scenario, one of the top Italian suit designers and the cream of Indian suit tailors got together at the Vimal Masters Assemblage Symposium today to develop an absolutely new concept in men's formal fashion wear, ShirtJacket.

This was the second interface between top Indian designers and suit craftsmen and one of the top Italian suit designers Mr Maurizio Bonas under the aegis of Vimal, the fabric brand of Reliance Industries Ltd (Textile Division). The first interface was held in mid-November last year with four one-day symposium at Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore.

Mr Maurizio, who is also the President of the 'Italian Council of Made in Italy', exchanged views with Indian suit designers and suggested them how to make the lightweight shirtjacket (coat) which could be easily carried and worn in any season and at any occasion.

He suggested Vimal that wool worsted and crepe wool fabrics will be suitable for shirtjacket and blue, grey and black will be colour trends during 2007-08.

He described the exact measurements for the shirtjacket, currently popular in Italy, from shoulder, waist, belly and proper flare at hips to make it the most comfortable wear, which is quite different from the English style of making shirtjackets that runs straight from waist to hips.

The Italian designer has many achievements to his credit and also consults with other leading global fashion designers and companies such as Stefano Ricci of Florence, Margaret Howell of London and Hayashida of Tokyo.

Mr Maurizio has created and owns the brand, A SNOB.

He informed that an Indian Tailors Club was under the process for its formation.

In the first interface, the Italian maestro shared his knowledge and tips on the fine art of making the perfect Italian jacket, the right fabrics, the right fits and the most contemporary styles.

Besides, dwelling on the importance of understanding the fabric, using the requisite accessories such as linings, trims, fusings and buttons, he also shared information with the participants on where to source the best accessories from.

Most importantly, Mr Maurizio also gave his views on the forthcoming trends in the modern Italian jacket in terms of fabrics and colours.

The second interface was a unique concept wherein the participants were provided with material to make a jacket. Mr Maurizio gave his feedback and tips on enhance the style quotient.

Mr Maurizio is now a fashion coordinator and is collaborating with the Architecture University of Florence for coordination research in the fashion world.

With a substantial manufacturing capacity, Vimal had always possessed the wherewithal to manufacture a range of shirting fabrics, worsted fabrics and synthetic fabrics for apparel, suits and trousers. Vimal also enjoys the milestone of exporting the largest amount of worsted fabric globally.

Along the way, Vimal became famous for making fashion available to the masses across the country through its wide range of synthetic fabrics.
