Goods lying in godown due to suspension of lorries to Karnataka
Salem, Tamil Nadu, Feb 8 (UNI) Due to suspension of operation of lorries to Karnataka due to vehicular disruption on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway in protest against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award, textile goods worth Rs ten crore were lying in the godown at Erode.
Police sources said flowers were selling at Rs two per kg in Krishnagiri and Hosur. Due to non-arrival of turmeric from Bangalore to Erode, the price had gone up by Rs 50.
No untoward incident was reported on Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border so far.
Though the Tamil Nadu Road Transport Corporation was ready to ply the buses to Karnataka with police escort, the Karnataka Government, however, allegedly denied police protection, the sources added.
