Five injured in police firing, tribals indulge in arson

Jaipur, Feb 8 (UNI) Five people were injured, one of them critically in police firing following renewed violence by tribals in Rishabdev, in the aftermath of Supreme Court ruling handing over the Kesariyaji temple management to the Jain community.

Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, while addressing a press conference in the evening, said the situation was very tense and very serious. He said the army has been put on alert and additional police forces have been rushed to the temple city to control the mob which has gone on the rampage.

He said about 15 gang- saw operating in the green marble mines in the area, a house and vehicle were set afire.

The government has constituted a cabinet sub committee to study the situation, the Minister added.
