Congress hails Sonia's letter to PM on retail sector

Vijayawada, Feb 8 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and party's official spokesman Paladagu Venkata Rao today hailed UPA Chairperson and AICC President Sonia Gandhi for writing a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh warning of the threat of foreign retailers entering the Indian market.

Addressing a press meet here today, Mr Rao said the Prime Minister had forwarded the letter to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to take suitable decision on the issue as the entry of multi-national companies into the retail sector would pose a grave threat to the country.

He said Ms Gandhi had written the letter to the PM for protecting the interest of the nation and to ensure that the common man was not prejudiced by such economic activities.
