Chilly weather continues in Delhi, mercury drops to 10 Deg C

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Chilly weather continued in Delhi for the second consecutive day today with the mercury dropping to 10 degrees Celsius.

It was a considerable drop in minimum temperature, from 14 Degree Celsius yesterday.

Though the minimum was one degree above normal, Easterly winds maintained the chill in the air, which had returned to the capital on Tuesday night after a short burst of light rain and thundershowers.

Fog enveloped the Delhi skyline in the morning hours though visibility levels soon improved.

The chill in the weather, which comes after ten days of unusually warm weather in the Capital, is expected to remain in the next one or two days with weathermen forecasting fresh rainfall and thundershowers in Northwest India during the next 24 hours.

''The current meteorological analysis suggests that scattered rain or thundershowers are likely over East Uttar Pradesh and other parts of Northwest India during the next 24 hours,''the met office said.

In fact, the BBC has forecast heavy showers in Delhi during the weekend and persistence of chill due to the influence of South Easterly winds.

The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi in the next 24 hours with possibility of the sky turning partly cloudy towards the evening. They have also forecast a slight mist in the morning.
