Cabinet clears signing of Indo-German film coproduction accord
New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) A new vista for Indian film and TV programme makers opened today with the Union Cabinet giving its approval for signing of the Audiovisual Co-production Agreement with the Federal Republic of Germany.
The chances of Indian locales being utilised for shooting would raise the visibility of the country as a preferred shooting destination.
Germany too would benefit from collaboration with India as its film industry was facing tough challenge from Hollywood.
Producers from both the countries would get an opportunity to pool their creative, artistic technical, financial and marketing resources for their production.
Besides, they will get a wider audience and share the risks.
Under the agreement, many Canadian, European and US companies would be able to work with Indian companies to outsource 2D and even 3D animation work.
The agreement will stimulate cultural and economic cooperation between both the countries to create and expand opportunities for co-production of films, TV and video production, Union Minister for Finance P Chidamabarm told reporters here after a Cabinet meeting.
