Hyderabad, Feb 8 (UNI) BJP National Secretary N Indranasena Reddy said the party would launch an agitation to protest against the alleged anti-people policies of the government and hike in prices of essential commodities.

Addressing his first press conference after becoming national secretary, Mr Reddy alleged that governments both at the Centre and in the state had failed to control price hike. He said inflation, which was 2.5 per cent during the NDA Regime, had gone up to six per cent.

He said prices of government-controlled commodities like sugar, rice, petrol and diesel had increased manifold along with oil, pulses and milk, burdening the common man.

The party would organise a public meeting here on February 11 protesting against this and central leaders like Venkaiah Naidu and the State President will address the meeting.

Regarding the formation of separate Telangana, he said the Congress was deceiving the people and their sentiments by delaying the issue in the name of constitution of Second States' Reorganisation Commission. He said the Congress should honour the sentiments of the people of Telangana.

The BJP Central leadership had taken various measures to strengthen the party in Southern States, which was crucial for the formation of government at the Centre.
