Shimla, Feb 8 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Government has banned Madhur Bhandarkar's recently released film ''Traffic Signal'' for using the word 'kinner' for eunuchs, saying the word was commonly used for tribals in Kinnuar district of the state.

The government has decided to ban the screening of the movie in the theatres of the state for the next two months to allow the producer to drop the word, a government spokesman said here today.

The film had created a controversy in the state recently following reference to local people in the film as eunuchs with several renowned people of the state threatening legal action against the film producers.

The spokesman said unless the objectionable word was removed, the ban would continue.

Traffic Signal is the second film after ''Kohram'' to be banned from screening in the theatres of the state.

Kohram was banned for naming a villain after Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and the ban has since continued.
