'Bentley is mine but Bunty, Ash free to use it,' says Amar Singh

New Delhi, Feb 8 (UNI) Samajwadi Party Amar Singh, in the eye of a controversy for allegedly gifting a super-expensive Bentley to Abhishek Bachchan on his birthday, today said he had legally imported the car on Amitabh Bachachan's address but he continued to be its owner, though ''Bachchans were free to use it.'' ''Neither I nor Amitabhji gifted the car to Abhishek, but my car will remain parked at his Mumbai residence and my daughter-in-law to be Aish, son Abhishek and any of the Bachchans are free to use it whenever they liked,'' he told a news conference here.

He also threatened to slap a defamation case against Delhi Transport Minister Haroon Yusuf and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for reportedly saying that the case would be investigated.

''No case is made out against me as the import process was fully legal,'' he asserted.

When asked why he had given the Mumbai address in his application for import of the car, he said, ''Because of my close relations to Mr Amitabh Bachchan and his family, I always stay with them whenever I go to Mumbai, so I have the full right to give the address of their house as mine unless they themselves deny it.'' He said he badly needed a car in Mumbai as he frequently visits the city.

Mr Singh said he had imported the car by paying more than 100 per cent duty and by furnishing all his PAN card and income tax documents.

''Nobody can stop me as I, as a citizen of India, have the legally earned financial resources to buy costly cars,'' he said.

Regarding the comments of the Delhi Transport Minister, he said that it was out of sheer necessity that he had to import the car on Mumbai address, otherwise he would have saved Rs 24 lakh by importing it on his Delhi address as the road tax in the capital was Rs six lakh while in Mumbai it was Rs 30 lakh.

''My lawyers will soon be sending notice to Mr Yusuf and Ms Dikshit, as his comments tantamount to defemation'' he said.
