Asian ADRs edge up; energy shares down
HONG KONG, Feb 8 (Reuters) Asian stocks listed on Wall Street <.bkas> edged up 0.09 percent as strong gains in global miner BHP Billiton helped offset weakness in energy firms.
PetroChina and CNOOC both fell after oil prices slid 2 percent, while Taiwan's UMC eased 0.28 percent after posting its smallest operating profit in three quarters.
US tech stocks rose on Wednesday thanks to upbeat results and outlook from Cisco Systems , but blue chips ended barely changed. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index <.ixic> climbed 0.77 percent while the Dow <.dji> was steady.
MSCI's measure of Asian stocks excluding Japan <.msciapj> climbed 0.48 percent to an all-time closing high on Wednesday.
Markets in Australia <.axjo>, India <.bsesn> and Singapore <.sti> all ended at record highs.
