6 bookies involved in cricket match-fixing arrested at Lonavala
Lonavala, Feb 8 (UNI) Six bookies were today arrested and a few lap-tops and mobiles seized from their possession here in the famous hill resort of Maharashtra.
Rural superintendent of police, (SP) Mr Vishwas Nangre-Patil told UNI that following a tip-off, he conducted several raids and managed to nab the bookies. Similar raids are being conducted in Mumbai and Thane as well, he said.
''We are investigating the matter. We have recovered lap-tops and mobiles from their possession and further details will be divulged soon. The culprits are being brought here for further interrogation'', he disclosed.
The match-fixing scandal has once again shaken the sporting world after Nagpur police yesterday said that a West Indies player, Marlon Samuels, had contacted a bookie in New Delhi and had conversation with him over the telephone, during the One Day International (ODI) match that West Indies played against India here last month.
