Stamp duty to be brought at other states level in UP

Lucknow, Feb 7 (UNI) The stamp duty on shares contract notes in Uttar Pradesh would be brought to the level of other states, where it is charged at Rs 200.

Earlier, stamp duty was charged in UP but it was only Rs 5,000 on one crore.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Uttar Pradesh government financial advisor Surendra Mohan with representatives of the Shares Broker Forum and other administrative officers, official sources said here this evening.

The legal procedures required would be cleared soon, sources added.
