Sabena Technics, Taneja Aerospace to form MRO in Tamil Nadu

Bangalore, Feb 7 (UNI) Sabena Technics TAT group of France has formed a joint venture company with Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Ltd (TAAL) to develop an independent maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

The MRO will initially be targeted at regional turboprop aircraft like ATR 42/72.

Later, mid-size single-aisle planes like Airbus A320 and Boeing B737 series will be included in the portfolio. These jets form a substantial part of aircraft population in the country.

The government is considering plans to allow 100 per cent foreign direct investment in MROs and some other aviation-related activities like helicopter and seaplane services.

TAAL is a limited liability company and is listed on Mumbai and Pune stock exchanges. It belongs to the Pune-based ISMT group.

It also owns a private airfield at Krishnagiri district where it has manufacturing and aircraft maintenance facilities including hangars.

Sabena Technics employs 2,650 people in 14 locations worldwide and is subsidiary of the TAT group.
