NRIs reach Punjab to canvass for Congress
Hoshiarpur, Feb 7 (UNI) As many as 51 NRIs from the United Kingdom (UK) have landed in Punjab to canvass support for the Congress candidates to Assembly elections in the state.
Led by Mr Bhagwan Dass Badhan, President of the Indian Overseas Congress, these NRIs hail from villages falling in different assembly segments. They have all fanned out into their respective constituencies to solicit support for the Congress nominees.
Talking to UNI, Mr Badhan said here today, these NRIs had contacted their relatives and friends and asked them to support the Congress candidates and work to ensure their victory.
He said the NRIs including Jarnail Singh Banger, Jagtar Singh Panesar, Kewal Singh Kharkal and Parminder Singh Shergill were ''very impressed'' with the development carried out in the state.
They have urged their relatives to give the Congress another chance to enable it to complete the ''unfinished tasks'', Mr Badhan added.
