Bangalore, Feb 7 (UNI) Indian (Airlines) has leased two wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircraft with Pratt&Whitney engines which will join its fleet in October.
The government-owned airline will fly the planes to China and Australia.
''Indian will be the first airline in the country to induct A330s powered with Pratt&Whitney PW4000-100 engines,'' said its Chairman and Managing Director Vishwapati Trivedi after signing the agreement with Mr James Masotti, Pratt&Whitney's vice-president of commercial engines and services for Asia Pacific.
The announcement was made on the sidelines of Aero India 2007 which began here today.
Indian has a fleet of 74 aircraft including 48 Airbus A320s, six A319s and 11 Boeing B737s operated by its subsidiary Alliance Air.
It operates over 300 flights a day to 54 destinations within India and 18 abroad carrying 30,000 passengers.
Pratt&Whitney has over 17,000 aircraft engines in service with hundreds of airlines across the world.
