Court summons M F Hussain and Nafisa Ali
New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) A local court today summoned painter M F Hussain and Chairperson of Founder Action India Trust Nafisa Ali to appear on March 6 for hurting religious sentiments.
Dr Ram Pratap of Apollo hospital had filed a complaint against Hussain, saying the painter had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus and Muslims by making obscene paintings of Bharat Mata and Goddess Sita depicting them as scantly dressed and of Draupadi's 'vastra haran' which were published on February 6, 2006 in the weekly 'India Today' and on February 10, 2006 in the daily 'Hindustan Times'.
An FIR under sec 153 (A) and 294 of the Indian Penal Code was registered in Connaught Place police station against M F Hussain, Nafisa Ali, the editors of India Today and Hindustan Times as per order of metropolitan magistrate, on April 4 last year.
Another complaint was also filed by Raj Kumar against Hussain in an Indore court. M F Hussain had then filed a petition before the Supreme Court for clubbing the matter in December last.
