Court grants bail day after CBI arrests CMO to accepting bribe
New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) In a surprising move a day after Chief Medical Officer of Sushruta Trauma Centre and another employee were arrested by CBI for accepting bribe, a city court today granted interim bail to the CMO while castigating the investigating agency for procedural lapses.
Special CBI Judge S K Kaushik granted bail to Dr Vikas Rampal, after CBI failed to give the full account of the alleged Rs one lakh bribe and also sought adjournment when asked to argue on the bail application moved by the CMO.
However, the court remanded the other accused, Nursing Orderly Misri Lal, was also a union leader at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital at Delhi Gate, to 14-day judicial custody.
CBI yesterday arrested the two for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh from a medical supplier. Their residences were also raided.
It was argued on behalf of the CMO that he had been framed in a false and fabricated case.
