New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) With the notification of the 2021 Master Plan expected soon to give relief to people of Delhi from sealing, a Congress councillor today suggested that the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee be winded up.

Speaking at a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee here, Councillor Sanjay Puri said now that the 2021 Master Plan, expected to bring relief for people of Delhi and traders from sealing, was ready for notification anytime soon, there was no rationale of the existence of the Monitoring Committee, set up by the Supreme Court for overseeing the sealing operation in Delhi.

''The MCD has, over the last few months, extended full cooperation to the Apex court-appointed committee in the sealing operation in various parts of Delhi. But now that the MPD 2021 is ready for notification and expected to give relief from sealing, there is no rationale of the committee,'' Mr Puri said.

It is notable that Union Urban Development Minister yesterday said the Master Plan had been approved by the Centre and would be notified within 48 hours. With the notification of the MPD 2021, it was widely expected that the traders in Delhi would be freed from the Damocle's sword of sealing.
