New Delhi, Feb 7: Exotic locales in the Bahamas with their 'life-like excitement', spread over 700 islands ushers in a tranquil paradise -- peaceful yet playful and serene yet sensuous -- seeking Indian attention.

On an exploratory mission to India to delve into its market for a ''long-term relationship'', representatives of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism are to showcase one of the world's most endearing honeymoon destinations to the Indian people.

''India is known for its lavish weddings and grand ceremonies. We want the people here to enjoy and celebrate their honeymoon in an equally 'delicious' manner, hence our presence,'' Bahamas Director General of Tourism Vernice J Walkine told mediapersons last evening.

Mainly here to get to know the market and the volume of business we could generate here through our exhibits, the initial idea is to get the Indian traveller add Bahamas to his itinerary while visiting the United States, she said.

''Just three to four hrs from New York and such big cities in US, a trip to Bahamas was just the dash a vacation or holiday -- whether business or personal -- would need to refreshen and rejuvenate anyone.'' And with the forthcoming Cricket World Cup in West Indies, the idea was to lure Indians to the closeby Bahamas as a winding up tour, elaborated Ms Walkine adding that ''though lack of direct flights and long travel distance do dampen the initiative but we are confident that once the discerning traveller tastes the 'Bahamas spice', he would love to return often.'' Native to exotic sports from scuba diving, sailing, kayaking to fishing, birding, golfing and flying Bahamas is also home to unique white sand beaches and green water acquamarine life that few locales in the world could boast of.
