3 more medical colleges, few govt depts merged in Bihar
Patna, Feb 7: The Bihar government has decided to open three more medical colleges to improve healthcare in the state.
The decision was taken, at a meeting of the state cabinet yesterday, Cabinet coordination secretary Girish Shankar said here today.
Mr Shankar said the cabinet also gave its nod for reducing the number of government departments from existing 47 to 43 as per the recommendations of the administative reforms commission.
The Rajbhasa and civil aviation departments had been merged with cabinet secretariat department. Similarly national savings, small savings, institutional finance and programme implementation departments had been merged with finance department, he added.
The registration and 'excise and prohibition' department would also work as one entity, he told the newspersons.
He said health department would be merged with medical education and family welfare department to make its functioning more cohesive and ensure better coordination among these three vital areas relating to healthcare.
