Srinagar, Feb 6 (UNI) Chief Patron of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a partner in the coalition government, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today requested Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to withdraw his and his daughter's personal security with immediate effect.

Reacting to Mr Azad's statement in the State Assembly yesterday that those politicians who demand gradual reduction of security forces and their replacement with the state police should seek withdrawal of their security, Mufti, former Union Home minister, in a letter to Mr Azad, said that it has been a consistent view of the PDP that a dignified solution to the problems facing the Jammu and Kashmir could come only through dialogue and peaceful means.

''This view fortunately gaining momentum across the sub-continent and as a part of it, we have been suggesting a gradual reduction of forces, empowerment of the state police and withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act,'' he said.
