USD 84,000 Japanese grant for Bhuj school

Ahmedabad, Feb 6 (UNI) The government of Japan has sanctioned a grant of USD 84,000 (about Rs 38 lakh) to a school run by 'Child Welfare Trust' for mentally and physically challenged children here.

Paediatrician and neonatologist Shantuben Patel has been running the school since 1996. Presently, there are 120 students from all over Gujarat, Rajasthan and Mumbai.

Taking into consideration, the services rendered by the trust, the government of Japan has given them financial help. Chief Consul General of Japan Akira Evanade will personally come to the school to hand over the cheque to Dr Patel on February 9, sources said.

The school works for comprehensive development of school children and teaches them to be self-sufficient despite their handicap, they added.
