T3 names Patel as tourism person of the year

New Delhi, Feb 6: Civil aviation minister Praful Patel has been voted as Travel Trends Today (T3) tourism person of the year award by travel, tourism and hospitality industry.

He was chosen jointly by leading industry associations including the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), the Indian Association of Tour Association (IATO), the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), the Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI) and the Hotels Association of India (HAI).

The exercise was conducted by T3, the industry's leading magazine. Mr Patel was honoured for making critical decision including privatisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports besides clearing the way for merger of Air India (AI) and Indian.

''These decisions will pave the way for future privatisation of other airports and globally change the face of Indian tourism,'' T3 magazine said.
