Suzuki Motor to invest 200 bln yen in Manesar plant

Manesar, Haryana, Feb 6 (UNI) Suzuki Motor Corporation will invest 200 billion yen in the new assembling, diesel engine and transmission manufacturing plant, which was launched here today.

''The expenditure will be done on the introduction of new models and upgrade of joint venture plant with Maruti Udyog Ltd,'' Suzuki Chairman Osamu Suzuki told reporters.

The company has also planned an investment of 20 billion yen in the two-wheeler manufacturing plant in Manesar, which currently produces 125 cc motorcycle brands Heat and Zeus.

''The investments will also include expanding R&D facilities in Manesar,'' Mr Suzuki said.

The plant, fourth for Maruti Udyog Ltd, was launched by Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The assembly plant started with an initial capacity of 1,00,000 units per year. This will be scaled up to 3,00,000 per year.
