Stolen ashtadhatu idol recovered
Mau, Feb 6 (UNI) An ancient 'ashtadhatu' idol, estimated at Rs 2.5 crore in the international market, was recovered with the arrest of four burglars in this district of Uttar Pradesh.
Police today said acting on a tip-off, cops nabbed three wanted miscreants in Molnapur village under Madhuban police station area late night.
On being frisked, an ancient idol of Goddess Janki was recovered from their possession.
On interrogation, the accused confessed that they had stolen the idol from the Ram Janki temple in Mahuatar village on December 18, 2006 and were planning to smuggle it abroad.
Meanwhile, a reward of Rs 2,500 has been announced for the police team.
