Shekhawat leaves for New Delhi
Tirupati, Feb 6 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhwat today left for New Delhi by a special IAF aircraft after completing his two-day pilgrimage visit in the temple town.
Mr Shekhwat, who arrived here yesterday, offered prayers at the lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala and stayed overnight in the hill-top Padmavathi guest house of the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams.
After participating in 'Suprabharatham seva,' the Vice-President had darshan of lord Balaji this morning and later motored down to Tirupati.
Accompanied by his wife Surijkanwar, family members and Andhra Pradesh Minister Marrappa, he offered prayers to goddess Padmavathi at Ammavaru temple in Tiruchanoor near here. After darshan of goddess, Mr Shekhawat was presented prasadam and portrait of Ammavaru by TTD Executive Officer APVN Sharma in the temple premises.
Before leaving for New Delhi, Mr Shekhawat and his family members offered prayers to the lord at Srikalahasteeswara temple in Srikalahasti in Chittoor district about 30 km from here.
The temple officials presented prasadam and portrait of lord Siva and goddess to him, temple sources said.
