Security beefed up in North Bengal after Rly blast
Siliguri, Feb 6 (UNI) The security arrangement has been beefed up in North Bengal following a terror attack at Kamakhyaguri railway station in neighbouring Jalpaiguri district yesterday in which three hawkers were critically injured.
Inspector General of police, North Bengal, Kishanlal Meena today said police intensified patrolling at all vital installations and sensitive places, including railway stations and bus terminus.
'' We would not take any chance after two blasts on the railways, Belacoba two months ago and Kamakhyaguri on Monday'', Mr Meena said.
He claimed the militant groups had changed strategy of attacks leaving high security big stations and targeting lesser known railway stations. '' But now we have alerted all security agencies to beef up vigil in all railway stations and vital installations across North Bengal'.
Northeast Frontier Railway's divisional Manager, Alipurduar division, Arjun Rakhit told UNI that they have also tightened the security arrangements.
Police were yet to identify the culprits and cause of latest blast, said Superintendent of police, Jalpaiguri, Mr Tripurari.
