Schools and colleges closed in Cauvery basin districts

Bangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) Educational institutions, including Schools and Colleges remained closed in Cauvery basin Districts in Karnataka today as precautionary measure, even as the situation remained peaceful in Cauvery basin districts with no untoward incident being reported.

Police force deployed in sensitive areas, near Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) dam site, in Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagar Districts besides Bangalore are keeping a strict vigil to maintain law and order.

It may be recalled here that tense situation prevailed since yesterday in the State after Cauvery Tribunal gave its verdict on sharing of Cauvery Water.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has convened an all party meeting to discuss the Cauvery Water Sharing tribunal award issued yesterday.

Vatal Paksha leader and Legislator Vatal Nagaraj and various other Kannada organisations, terming the tribunal award as injustice done to Karnataka, have given call for Statewdie bandh on February Eight.

Bus service between Bangalore and Mysore have been withdrawn as precautionary measure and through services to neighbouring Tamil Nadu was also suspended. However, buses are plying upto border districts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rush was witnessed for Rail service between Bangalore and Mysore.
