SC asks Uttarakhand to file affidavit on Tehri rehabilitation

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court today directed the State of Uttarakhand to file an affidavit within four weeks stating therein whether all the effected families due to Tehri dam project have been rehabilitated.

The court's directions came when it was informed that the height of the dam has already been raised to 840 feet but the families ousted from the submergence zone are yet to be rehabilitated.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishanan and Justices D K Jain and V S Sirpurkar fixed March 25 as the next date of hearing of a batch of petitions filed by N D Jayal and others.
