Rs 24.47 cr sanctioned for rural roads in Tuticorin

Tuticorin, Feb 6: The Tamil Nadu Government has sanctioned Rs 24.47 crore under the Combined Road Development scheme to lay 37 roads in this district.

District Collector Palaniyandi, informed this at a press conference here yesterday.

He said NABARD, which sanctioned Rs 3.5 crore for laying 24 village roads, had also provided Rs 5.4 crore to carry out maintenance work of 29 village roads in this district.

The District administration would distribute free colour television sets to 1172 beneficiaries and handover free gas stoves to 4900 beneficiaries in the district during the second phase on February 25, he informed.

He said 859 people in the district, identified under the Unemployment Welfare scheme, would be provided with assistance.
