Police open fire to disperse mob in Umrer
Nagpur, Feb 6 (UNI) Police today opened fire to disperse a rampaging mob, protesting the long hours of load shedding in Umrer, about 45 km from here.
A morcha taken out this afternoon turned violent with the mob ransacking the local police station and office of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL).
The mob also indulged in heavy stone pelting at the residence of the local Legislator and torched several vehicles, police said.
Initially, police resorted to lathi-charge but as the situation could not be controlled, they opened fire, a top official at the Nagpur District Rural Control Room said.
