Moolur award for P K Gopi

Pathanamthitta, Feb 6 (UNI) Noted poet P K Gopi has been selected for this year's "Moolur Award", instituted by Elavumthitta-based Moolur Smaraka Samity in memory of Sarasakavi Moolur S Padmanabha Panicker.

His collection of poems titled "Chiranthanam" won him the annual award for poetry.

The award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a citation, would be presented to him by state Devaswom Miniser G Sudhakaran at a function to be held at Elavumthitta Sarasakavi Moolur Memorial on Feburary 16, in connection with the 138th birth anniversary celebrations of the poet, Samithi Secretary V R Kamalasanan told reporters here.

A three-member judging commitee, headed by Dr Kurias Kumbalakkuzhy and Dr P Sethunathan and Prof M Chandra Babu selected the poems for the award, he added.
