Rajahmundry, Feb 6 (UNI) Former Telugu Desam MLA from Kaidam and present Congress leader Vaddi Veerabhadra Rao tonsured his head in protest against TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu's criticism of Polavaram Project.

Addressing presspersons at the Polavaram spill way hillock yesterday Mr Veerabhadra Rao said he was praying to Lord Venkateswara ''to change Mr Naidu's mind'' in the Polavaram project issue, so as to start the work immediately.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was trying his best to bring the Polavaram project by clearing all hurdles, whereas Mr Naidu was moving against the project execution.

Mr Naidu was the root cause for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) protesting over the project, Mr Rao alleged.

Mr Rao said he would send the tonsured hair to the TDP leader. He threatened that in any case if the project was shelved he would end his life.

It may be recalled that Mr Rao took out a cycle rally to Delhi from here, pedalling 3,000 km, in support of the Polavaram Project, under the banner of 'Polavaram Sadana Samithi', when he was an MLA of TDP.
