Ranchi, Feb 6 (UNI) The Left parties in Jharkhand will launch a month-long explanatory campaign from February 14 in the state to highlight their six-point programme, which would culminate in a demonstration and dharna near Parliament on March 14.

The six-point demands are mainly concerned with the Adivasi rights and issues for increasing total number of Jharkhand Assembly seats to ensure increase of Scheduled Tribes reserved seats for protection of proportion of ST reserved seats in Jharkhand on the line of Tripura pattern by Constitutional amendment for restoration of districtwise scheduled areas by fresh Presidential order.

They wanted extension of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) to the remaining two distrits - East Singhbhum and Deoghar, strengthening of public distribution system and provision of Rs two per gm wheat, Rs three per gm rice through Antyodaya scheme to the people in the entire scheduled areas in state.

The Left parties also demanded to specifically mention tendu leaf as minor forest produce in rules, being framed under scheduled tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Rights) Act.

The Left parties also decided to raise the demands with Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda to amend Chotagnagpur Tenancy Act (CNT) to incorporate the provision of specia courts to settle special land disputes of Scheduled Tribes with intention for restoration of land.

The decision was taken in a meeting attended by all the Left leaders mainly from Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Forward Bloc, and RSP, said a release here today.

The Left parties seriously noted that for the past two years the Centre ignored the memoranda submitted jointly by them, RJD, JMM, and Congress to the Prime Minister on October 19 and President of India on November two, party sources said.
