Lady trader robbed of Rs 8 lakh

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Crooks today robbed a lady garment trader of eight lakh rupees in Laxmi Nagar area of East Delhi by hoodwinking her driver.

Sarita Gupta, in her complaint, said she had kept Rs eight lakh in a bag and gone to meet her Chartered Accountant after parking her car close to Heera Sweets on Vikas Marg when two men 'plucked' the bag from the car and escaped.

The men allegedly divered the attention of the driver, sitting in the car, by pointing towards a 10-rupee note on the ground and asking if it belonged to him.

They later made good after the driver opened the car door with the central locking system.

Ms Gupta, who deals in garments, had left her home with Rs 14 lakh, out of which she had deposited Rs six lakh in a bank. The rest of the money was to be paid to her business associate, said the complaint.

A case has been registered at Shakarpur police station and investigations are on, police said.
