Jalandhar's former Mayor joins Congress

Jalandhar, Feb 6 (UNI) Jalandhar's former Mayor and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Suresh Sehgal today quit BJP and joined the Congress.

Mr Sehgal, a prominent BJP functionary in Jalandhar North Assembly segment, joined Congress in the presence of Punjab Minister Avtar Henry who is seeking re-election from his traditional Jalandhar North constituency.

Mr Sehgal alleged that he was being ignored by the BJP.

Mr Sehgal's entry into Congress fold ahead of the February 13 Assembly elections is seen as a boost to Mr Henry's electoral prospects.
