India, Poland plan to host various cultural prog

Chennai, Feb 6: Aiming to improve the cultural heritage of the two countries, governments of India and Poland have planned to organise various cultural exchange programmes.

As part of the festival 'Poland in India 2006-2007' that began in September 2006 on a reciprocal basis, the Lalit Kala Akademi had organised an exhibition of 'visual poetry' and Orient Polish Posters of the father-son duo Jan and Piotr Mlodozeniecs, here from February one to February eight.

The cultural festival, included 27 projects on 50 various events.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Poland to India K Majka said ''the proposed plans to host various cultural programme was to promote and propagate not only the cultural heritage of both the countries but also cooperation in fields like political, scientific, educational, economic and as well as business''.

The proposed plans were drawn by joint effort of the Polish Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Culture and National Heritage, Indian Ministries of External Affairs and Culture, Poland Embassy in India and Indian Embassy in Poland''.

It would bridge the geographical gap between India and Poland and further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries, he added.

The posters displayed in the exhibition and Orient Polish Posters were collected from the Museum of Asia and Pacific in Warsaw.
