HC asks Delhi police to trace missing policeman
New Delhi, February 6 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today asked the Delhi police to either trace Balbir Singh, a suspended police inspector missing since January 5, or declare him dead and scotch further speculation over the controversy.
Hearing a plea by Ajay, the son of Balbir Singh, a division bench headed by Justice Manmohan Sarin observed that the police will have to solve the problem.
Ajay's counsel Rajeev Sharma blamed Police Commissioner KK Paul for the incident. "We believe K K Paul may be behind this," said Rajeev Sharma.
Balbir has been missing since he was suspended for writing letters to the Home Ministry against Mr Paul for his arbitrary orders on transfers.
The counsel said that instead of finding Balbir, the police was interrogating the family members and relatives.
Inspector Balbir Singh had publicly criticised the Delhi Police Commissioner saying that he ruled with an iron fist and that most of his decisions were arbitrary.
The case has much in common with Devender Manchanda who, in his suicide note, squarely blamed the Delhi Police Commissioner.
