Garden City to have new tennis court
Bangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) The Garden City of Bangalore will soon have a new tennis court built to international standards, Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) Secretary Sunder Raju announced today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the State Government had been approached to allot 50 acres of land for construction of the new court as the present one was taken on lease from the Horticulture Department. ''We want to have our own land to promote the game.'' State Health Minister R Ashok, who was also present, said the process of selecting the site would begin soon and assured all Government help for constructing the court.

there
was
a
proposal
before
the
Government
to
promote
sports
tourism.
''Since
the
city
has
already
made
a
mark
internationally
in
the
field
of
IT
sector,
promotion
of
sports
tourism
will
go
a
long
way
in
attracting
foreign
tourists.''
The
Minister
said
''the
Government
has
taken
the
initiative
and
extended
its
support
towards
improving
sports
in
a
big
way.
We
need
to
showcase
the
State
and
the
country
in
a
new
light
in
the
next
three
to
four
years.''
