Gangotri Textiles launches shirts

Chennai, Feb 6 (UNI) Gangotri Textiles Ltd, the Rs 350 crore company behind the popular 'Tibre' trousers, today announced their much expected entry into shirts segment under the same brand.

After launching Tibre trousers in 1999, Gangotri Textiles, an integrated manufacturing house, unveiled their shirts providing a complete solutions for male trousers and shirts, President Marketing Ramesh Sharma told a press conference here.

"We are targeting to sell three lakh pieces, amounting to more than Rs 55 crore during 2007-08," he said adding the shirts, manufactured on company's state-of-the-art machinery, were pre-washed in eco-friendly water and were 100 per cent ready to wear.

Till date, during this year, the company had sold 2.4 lakh trousers and were planning to sell seven lakh pieces next year, he added.

The company, which sourced its fabrics from in-house, presently had the capacity to produce 200 shirts a day and would soon step up the capacity to 1,500 pieces, he said. It had the capacity to produce 2,000 trousers a day, he added.

Mr Sharma said the formal and semi-formal shirts comprising of four collections were launched in a price rang between Rs 695 and Rs 995. As the company was making rapid strides in the yarn and the apparel market, Gangotri had plans for expansion and diversification, he added.

As part of divesification, the company during this fiscal would launch jeans, cargoes and T-shirts, he said, but ruled out its entry into the female line segment.

The company, which had spent about Rs three crore for advertisement last year, intended to spend more and planning to appoint brand ambassadors for its products.

The company also chalked out plans to open 40 exclusive showrooms by the year 2010. During this year, the company would open two showrooms in Coimbatore and two in the city, Mr Sharma said.
