EC asks ROs to check 'sale' of photo identity cards in Punjab
Moga, Feb 6 (UNI) In view of reports from various parts of the state regarding the alleged 'sale' of voters Electronic Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) in Punjab, the Election Commission has asked all Returning Officers to check and report such cases.
The ECI through all Deputy Commissioners, who are also designated as the District Electoral Officers, has appealed to the voters not to hand over their EPICs to anybody, not even government official.
The ECI issued this appeal after reports appeared in a section of the media that EPICs are being 'sold' in far flung areas of the state.
Moga Deputy Commissioner S K Sharma confirmed the intimation received from the ECI.
